Also, commentator Jim Lorentz announced his retirement and will be replaced by Harry Neale from Hockey Night in Canada.

An update in jerseys bring with it the hope of a season renewed. Team colors remain the same, but the hope for bringing home a Stanley Cup is way over due (specifically because the team hasn't had one to date). The team name, Sabre, came from the same name that was used for a weapon carried by a leader. The usefulness of the weapon was both for defense and offense.

The Sabres seem to be having troubles in both areas, judging by their record of 28-23, making them 4th in the Northeast Conference. The team needs a big push to get to the end of this season with a bit of dignity intact. It could be any number of things that is causing this team to just coast along in standings.
